In 1959, saxophonist Ronnie Scott opened the door to a small basement club in London’s west end where local musicians could jam. Today, it is one of the world’s most famous jazz clubs attracting packed houses and the biggest names in jazz and popular music and Ronnie Scott’s welcoming, stylish setting is also home to London’s coolest late night hang.
Each night Monday to Saturday, after the main act, Ronnie Scott’s presents the Late Late Show, where some of the UK’s finest jazz talents take to the stage for a late night blowing session.
Biography
Christian was last at Wakefield with Damon Brown's international quartet where he shone in a challenging context. Andrea is yet another Italian visitor who has impressed American musicians he has performed with, especially Steve Grossman with whom he has played for 20 years. He used Christian in his recently recorded European Quintet and now the honour is returned. They are both well steeped in the jazz tradition and can play in any style. There will be some standards and originals by them both. The energy of Mark Taylor and elegance of Andy Cleyndert complete a band which has had many outings around the London clubs but only now reaches Yorkshire.
"... a remarkably fluent and craftsmanlike improviser. Though fresh ideas flow inexorably, Brewer is not tempted to waste notes despite his fluency, so that there's a real sense of purpose about his work..." - Pete Martin , Jazz UK
Christian Brewer - alto sax
Andrea Pozza - piano
