LINEAGE – Inspired by the fact that while the members were born in the UK and USA they are all connected artistically, historically as well as culturally via the Caribbean, South America, Cuba, Africa and America. Acknowledging, embracing the history and the rich legacy of the music. Internationally respected musicians, bandleaders and composers in their own right, brought together by their mutual love and appreciation of the legacy of the music called Jazz. They bring you great inspirational music from their own pen as well a special selection of music from some of their favourite contemporary composers.
Tony Kofi (Alto & Soprano Saxes) –Winner of various awards, has been heard on the national and international concert and club stages with people like Abdullah Ibrahim, David Murray, Macy Gray, and The Julian Joseph Big band.
Byron Wallen – (Trumpet/Flugel Horn) – Exponent of varieties of music from around the world, as well as Jazz, has worked with Cleveland Watkiss, McCoy Tyner, Airto Moreira and Guy Barker.
Trevor Watkis (Piano) A Berklee College Alumni, has spent travelling between London and NYC, and has performed with the late Stanley Turrentine, Courtney Pine, Gary Bartz and Jean Toussaint.
Larry Bartley (Bass) – A first call bassist on the local and international jazz scene, has appeared with Stanley Turrentine, Steve Williamson, Orrin Evans, Steve Grossman and Donald Brown (Art Blakey's Jazz Messenger)
Rod Youngs (Drums) Originally from Washington DC, USA, now resident in London, has been heard with the late Gil Scott Heron, Gary Crosby’s various groups, Jon Hendricks and the late Abram Wilson among others.
