In 1959, saxophonist Ronnie Scott opened the door to a small basement club in London’s west end where local musicians could jam. Today, it is one of the world’s most famous jazz clubs attracting packed houses and the biggest names in jazz and popular music and Ronnie Scott’s welcoming, stylish setting is also home to London’s coolest late night hang.

Each night Monday to Saturday, after the main act, Ronnie Scott’s presents the Late Late Show, where some of the UK’s finest jazz talents take to the stage for a late night blowing session.

NIGEL PRICE Organ Trio

The Nigel Price Organ Trio - winners of the 2010 Parliamentary Jazz Awards for ³best jazz ensemble² - is led by one of Britain¹s finest guitarists Nigel Price - ex James Taylor Quartet and also a regular performer at Ronnie Scott¹s.

His blend of flowing bebop lines, blues feeling and the will to swing has made him a big hit with modern jazz fans.

Together with Matt Home on drums and Pete Whittaker on Hammond organ this is one of the most exciting jazz bands in the UK today.

Formed in 2002, the trio has worked hard, playing hundreds of venues both in the UK and abroad, including six residencies at Ronnie Scott¹s club in London.

The by-product of this amount of work is a tight-knit chemistry rarely seen between three musicians, an enormous repertoire and the ability to put on a well thought out gig which entertains from start to finish.

The band draws unashamedly upon it¹s 1960¹s influences yet delivers an up to date take on the music with it¹s intelligent, enthusiastic, well arranged, soulful and above all swinging brand of jazz.

Phenomenal drummer Matt Home has toured with Barry Harris, Herb Geller, Scott Hamilton, Howard Alden Ken Peplowski, Jim Mullen, and many others. He is also a house band regular at Ronnie Scott's club and spent 3 years with Ray Gelato.

Dynamic organist Pete Whittaker, one of the few players who actually brings the real thing to gigs, has been involved with many jazz projects including Theo Travis' "Double Talk" and guitarist John Etheridge's "Blue Spirits".

The band will be playing hard swinging jazz including material from the latest cd ³Hit The Road² and the 2011 release ³Heads & Tales² - voted 5th best worldwide jazz album of 2011 in Mojo magazine.

³The skilful Price lovingly celebrated Montgomery's languidly bluesy lyricism and breezy swing, and the group heated up this 50 year-old style with an irresistible conviction.² John Fordham - The Guardian 2010

³Brilliant and exhilarating.² Mojo magazine.

³Nigel Price more than amply demonstrates his all round skills as a guitarist great chops, good taste and a great sound and shows why he and his trio are way up there with the best, not just in the UK but anywhere.² Jim Mullen

³First class - admirable musicality.² Jazz Journal
