Biography

Bruno Heinen is a London based contemporary pianist, composer and bandleader. Bruno has released five records ('Twinkle Twinkle', 'Tierkries', 'Postcard to Bill Evans', 'Changing of the Seasons' and 'Common Spaces') on the forward looking Babel Label to wide critical acclaim, including albums of the year 2015 in the Telegraph.

Bruno has worked with artists such as Julian Siegel, Stan Sultzman, Jean Toussaint, Reem Kelani, Julian Arguelles, Pete Saberton, Byron Wallen, Ben Kraef, Antonio Fusco, and Heidi Vogel amongst others. He has performed in venues and festivals including the South Bank Centre, Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club, the Vortex Jazz Club, the Shanghai World Music Festival, the London Jazz Festival, the Cork Jazz Festival, the Rest Is Noise Festival, Cadogan Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall. He has had his music played on BBC radio 3, Jazz LineUp, Late Junction, BBC6 Music, BBC Scotland, in Austria, Canada, and the USA, as well as giving live broadcasts and interviews for the BBC.

Tonight he brings his trio featuring two of the finest musicians on the scene; Mark Lewandowski (Liam Noble, John Surman) on bass and Gene Calderazzo (Partisans, Steve Lacy) on drums.

The trio plays openly around Bruno's compositions and arrangements. Spontaneity, intention of ideas and freedom are the key elements of the groups approach.
