Top UK Alto Saxophonist Lucas Dodd is presenting his Quartet with Ross Stanley on Piano, Tim Thornton on Bass and Douglas Mariner on Drums.



British Born, New York based Altoist Lucas Dodd blends refined technique, rich tone and a joyful intensity when delivering his powerful performances on the bandstand. With influences straight out of the lineage of Cannonball Adderley, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock combined with the approach of modern pioneers of Jazz such as Michael Brecker, Chris Potter, Donny McCaslin, Seamus Blake, Joe Lovano, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Will Vinson (to name a few) Lucas’s draws from a huge pool of influence which is evident in his approach as a soloist, and also as a composer.

Working in London for 6 years (07-13) Lucas had the opportunity to play alongside, and learn from some of the British jazz scenes finest. Most notably – Jamie Cullum, The Ronnie Scotts Jazz Orchestra, Henry Armburg Jennings, Alex Garnett, Brandon Allen, Gareth Lockrane, Laurence Cottle , Nigel Hitchcock and The National Youth Jazz Orchestra.

Now Based In New York City, Lucas enjoys a healthy presence on the New York Jazz scene after Graduating from Manhattan school of Music, where he studied under the guidance of Dave Liebman, Donny McCaslin, Richie Perry, Jim Mcneely, Phil Markowitz and other highly revered contemporary greats. Recent performances include prestigious venues such as Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola and the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club in Greenwich Village. As well as working with the finest talents the jazz scene has to offer, Lucas has also worked with more mainstream pop artists, most notably David Bowie on his show ‘Lazarus’ and Jamie Cullum on multiple US tours.

As an up and coming artist, Lucas shows much promise as a soloist , as a composer and his reputation continues to grow. With the recording of his first album firmly in his sights, the next twelve months will be a very exciting time to watch what will happen with this exciting young musician.

In 1959, saxophonist Ronnie Scott opened the door to a small basement club in London’s west end where local musicians could jam. Today, it is one of the world’s most famous jazz clubs attracting packed houses and the biggest names in jazz and popular music and Ronnie Scott’s welcoming, stylish setting is also home to London’s coolest late night hang.

Each night Monday to Saturday, after the main act, Ronnie Scott’s presents the Late Late Show, where some of the UK’s finest jazz talents take to the stage for a late night blowing session.
